Aimee’s garden

Aimee loves gardening. Her family moved into their home a few years ago, and they just hadn’t gotten a garden in yet. They are busy and on a budget! They value spending time together in the garden growing and harvesting their own food. With a 5 year-old, there needs to be a big element of play in the garden. We created a children’s garden bed right next to the playhouse for them. Aimee is very conscious of our desert climate, and wants to be responsible with water use. We focused on desert-adapted seed options from Native Seeds Search, using drip irrigation and smart planting seasonal strategies for growing more of their food locally and water-wise in their own backyard. This project will continue into the front yard with a small family orchard of peach and fig trees, pollinator gardens, and more play areas and lounging for the grown ups. Installed March 2025!
